Panaji: Summoning of the eighth session of the eighth Legislative Assembly for two days is not only a mockery of democracy, but it is a clear indication that the BJP is afraid to face pressing issues and trying to further undermine democratic principles, said Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao attacking BJP government.

“I condemn the decision of incapacitated BJP government to curtail the rights of the opposition. Instead of having meaningful discussions and working for the betterment of the people, BJP is trying to silence dissenting voices,” Alemao said.

He said that a two-day session is insufficient to address the myriad issues plaguing the state, including the ongoing controversy over recruitments “Siddiqui escape”, ‘Smart City’ project, decline in tourism, and other critical matters that require thorough discussion and debate.

“BJP has lost faith in itself and also knows that people have lost faith in them. Due to this they are baffled and are afraid to face opposition. People of Goa have not forgotten how they have sold Mhadei to Karnataka and how they have accumulated wealth from Corruption. We will not allow them to sideline these pressing issues,” Alemao said.
