Panaji, Jan 29: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Patkar has strongly condemned the sudden transfer of South Goa SP Sunita Sawant, alleging that the move exposes the BJP government’s attempts to shield Bajrang Dal leaders. Patkar accused the Pramod Sawant-led administration of misusing law enforcement to protect its ideological allies while suppressing officers who act with integrity.

According to Patkar, the transfer was executed in haste as soon as SP Sunita Sawant began gathering information on Bajrang Dal leaders in Goa. He claimed that the BJP-RSS influence on governance is compromising the state’s law and order.

“The BJP government is more focused on shielding its affiliates than on governance. The transfer of an officer investigating Bajrang Dal leaders raises serious questions. What is the BJP trying to hide? Why is it afraid of a fair investigation?” Patkar questioned.

He further alleged that the Goa Police is being manipulated for political interests instead of being allowed to function independently. Terming the transfer an “act of intimidation,” he said it proves the government’s intent to protect divisive elements and suppress accountability.

The Congress party has demanded a justification from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and reiterated its commitment to exposing what it calls BJP’s communal agenda. Patkar asserted that the people of Goa would not tolerate such political interference in law enforcement.
