BABU NAIK WAS TALLEST LEADER OF GOA – EDUARDO FALEIRO

Margao – Former Union Minister Eduardo Faleiro today gave the Muhurat Clap for the documentary “Loknayak” on late Anant alias Babu Narcinva Naik, in the presence of Ulhas Verlekar, M. K. Shaikh, and family members on the occasion of Punyatithi of Babu Naik. The documentary is scheduled for release during the Birth Centenary celebrations commencing on 19 August 2026.

The Muhurat function was held at Shree Damodar Sal, the ancestral home of the Naik Shankhwalkar family in Margao, marking a significant beginning to the commemorative project.

Speaking on the occasion, Eduardo Faleiro fondly recalled his association with former Minister Anant alias Babu Naik, describing him as one of Goa’s tallest leaders who consistently fought to protect the state’s identity.

Former Headmaster and senior political leader M. K. Shaikh stated that the documentary would serve as an important guide for future generations to understand the life and contributions of Babu Naik.

Businessman Ulhas Verlekar also reminisced about his close association with Babu Naik and congratulated the family for undertaking the initiative to produce the documentary.

Family members present included his sons Pandurang alias Bhai, Gaurish, and Vinay; daughter Shobha Mohan Pai Vernekar; daughters-in-law Sandhya, Seema, and Manjusha; grandsons Prabhav and Adil; granddaughter-in-law Sonal; and great-grandsons Anant Prabhav Naik and Aaddi Kripal Naik.

The documentary is being produced by the Anant alias Babu Narcinva Naik Centenary Celebrations Committee and directed by Kishor Arjun and will focus on the life and legacy of the eminent Goan leader.
