MAPUSA: Aldona Congress MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Saturday inspected the work of restoration of roads that were dug up for underground cabling in Ward No 8 of Mapusa municipality that falls in Aldona constituency and assured the people that the works would be completed before the monsoon.
“The work of restoration of the dug up roads for underground cabling has begun in Ward No 8 of Mapusa. I’m happy that the tender which was passed for Aldona constituency includes this area of Mapusa. I had assured about a week ago that even the works of Mapusa falling in my constituency would be taken up and here we are today,” he said.
“After the Feast Mass this morning at St Thomas Church, Aldona, I visited Bilou (Bilwan) in Mapusa which falls in Aldona Constituency to inspect the work being done to restore the roads dug up due to underground cabling. Am glad to see the work on track and the dug up roads will be restored and hot mixed,” he said.
He thanked the people of ward for having borne the inconvenience for the last two years and said that the dug up portions of the roads would be restored now first with macadam and later with pre mix and later with hot mix.
“I have asked that after the road settles during the monsoon, the entire road be hot mixed so that we can get a smooth travel. A proposal for entire hotmixing of roads has also been submitted to the Government,” he said.
He thanked Edwin Fernandes, Paulo D Souza, Nandu Nagvenkar, Satyavan Bhosle and the entire team working to ensure due performance who along with Councillor Vikas Arolkar were present on the occasion.
