Nuvem – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has intensified its demand for immediate repair of the Nuvem–Betalbhati–Nagwado road, a crucial but narrow stretch that connects to Colva, one of Goa’s most popular tourist hubs. Locals say the road has been in a dangerous condition for a long time, with numerous accidents reported, yet their repeated appeals to authorities have gone unheard.

Highlighting the issue, AAP organised a signature campaign to gather public support, which will be submitted to the Public Works Department (PWD). According to party leaders, the road was dug up for underground cabling but was never restored properly by the PWD, leaving it riddled with potholes and posing a risk to motorists and pedestrians alike.

AAP leaders criticised the state government for failing to address even basic infrastructure issues, questioning the much-touted “double engine sarkar” promise. “Forget double engine, even a half-engine government should be able to restore this road,” a party leader remarked, taking a jibe at the ruling dispensation. They also questioned the development narrative, pointing out that MLAs frequently change parties in the name of progress, yet the ground reality remains unchanged.

Calling on the authorities to act promptly, AAP urged the government to be sensitive towards the hardships faced by residents and tourists using this road daily.
