Curchorem Residents Submit Memorandum to Minister Over Illegal Garbage Dumping in Morailem

A delegation of residents from Curchorem, led by GPCC President Amit Patkar, met with the Minister for Waste Management at the Secretariat to raise concerns over the illegal dumping of garbage at Survey No. 96/0 in Morailem, Church Road. The memorandum highlighted the severe health risks posed by the accumulation of garbage, which has been causing environmental damage and creating a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects.

The residents emphasized that previous complaints had gone unaddressed and called for immediate intervention to stop the illegal dumping. They also questioned why waste is stored at Morailem when a garbage treatment plant has been established in Cacora, at a cost of ₹150 crores, by the Government of Goa.

In the letter, the residents underscored their constitutional “Right to Live,” urging the authorities to act swiftly and provide a resolution to the ongoing issue.
