In the assembly, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar addressed the status of pending applications for the Griha Aadhar and Ladli Laxmi schemes. He praised the government for these initiatives, which have benefited thousands of women in Goa over the past decade. However, he highlighted that many women are still awaiting benefits despite having applied.

Amonkar specifically asked for details on pending Griha Aadhar applications from the Mormugao Constituency but was provided with information for the entire Mormugao Taluka. He noted that many cases have been marked to committee for over five years, primarily due to the absence of marriage certificates, even when birth certificates of children are attached.

He questioned the Hon. Minister for Women & Child Development on the department’s plans to clear these long-pending cases and the expected timeline for sanctioning.

Amonkar also brought up issues related to the assessment surveys conducted by GEL and the respective Women & Child Development Blocks. He shared a case from his constituency where an applicant was sanctioned Griha Aadhar benefits in September 2023 but stopped receiving them after January 2024 due to a mistaken remark that the beneficiary was deceased. Despite providing the required documents in June 2024, the applicant has not received any further benefits.

He asked the Hon. Minister to clarify the basis for such erroneous survey results and urged for a solution to avoid such harassment of beneficiaries.

Additionally, Amonkar suggested that the compliance process, currently requiring applicants to travel to Panaji, be handled at the taluka level by the concerned ICDS offices to ease the burden on beneficiaries and ensure timely clearance of such cases.
