Margao – Circular issued by Education Department to Schools & Institutions directing them to open Bank Accounts in Axis Bank is direct evidence of BJP Government’s agenda of promoting Private Banks & eventually finish Nationalised Banks. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must withdraw the Circular immediately, demanded Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao.
Reacting to the Circular issued by Education Department directing Schools and Educational Institutions to open Bank Accounts only in Axis Bank, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao said that the Circular is to facilitate Marketing Target of Wife of a BJP Leader associated with Axis Bank.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant must explain why Government has selectively chosen only Axis Bank. What extra benefits Government and all those Schools and Institutions will get from the Axis Bank as compared to other Banks? questioned Yuri Alemao.
What is the difficulty in allowing Schools and Institutions to have Bank Accounts of their Choice? Who will take responsibility if the Private Banks go bankrupt someday? Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant needs to answer these important questions, said Yuri Alemao.
All banks especially Nationalised Banks have Online Transaction Facility. “Mukhyamantri Guru Dakshina Yojana” can be implemented through any of these Bank. It is only because of vested interest of the BJP Leader’s wife that Government is pressurising Schools and Institutions to open Bank Accounts in Axis Bank, charged Yuri Alemao.
I also want to warn the Director of Education not to come under pressure of the Government and issue Circulars promoting Private Sector Banks. He will be responsible if some fraud takes place in the Banks. Choice of selecting Bank Accounts should be left to respective Schools and Institutions, stated Yuri Alemao.
