Panaji, Goa | 19 October 2026: Goa is set to celebrate the rich heritage of Indian classical music with the Pt. Prabhakar Chari Sangeet Sammelan 2026, a two-day music festival scheduled for 24th and 25th October 2026 at Kala Academy, Goa, from 4:00 PM to 9:30 PM on both days. Organised by Pt. Prabhakar Chari Pratishthan and Swar Sanskruti Music Academy (SSMA), in association with Kala Academy, Goa, and the Directorate of Art & Culture, Goa, the festival pays tribute to the legacy of the late Pt. Prabhakar Chari, a respected tabla player, academician and musicologist who made significant contributions to Goa’s musical heritage.

The festival will bring together established maestros and talented performers for two evenings of Hindustani classical music and dance, featuring vocal and instrumental recitals, tabla performances, jugalbandi and classical dance presentations.

The artistes featured include Pt. Sudhir Nayak, Dr. Pravin Gaonkar, Swapnil Bhise, Dr. Rajesh Bhatkurse, Dr. Sapana Naik, Shantanu Gokhale, Rekha Madkaikar, Sarang Vechalekar, Aditya Apte, Neel Sonar, Sanket Khalap and Kaustubh Chari, accompanied by a team of accomplished musicians.

The programme will offer audiences an opportunity to experience the diversity of Indian classical traditions, with performances spanning tabla, sitar, sarod, flute, santoor, harmonium, classical vocals, Kathak and Bharatanatyam.

Pt. Ravi Chary, an internationally acclaimed sitarist and son of the late Pt. Prabhakar Chari, founded Swar Sanskruti Music Academy (SSMA) in 2013 to preserve and promote Hindustani classical music. The non-profit organisation nurtures emerging musicians through mentorship, concerts and workshops, creating opportunities for young artistes while keeping India’s rich musical traditions alive.

The Pt. Prabhakar Chari Pratishthan and Swar Sanskruti Music Academy invite music lovers, students, artistes and the public to attend the Sammelan and be part of this tribute to a distinguished musical legacy.
