50000 SQM OF FARMLAND SET TO BENEFIT FROM VEDANTA SUPPORT

Vedanta Sesa Goa, Value Added Business (VAB), in collaboration with its NGO partner Vanarai, extended support to the Bramheshwar Farmers’ Association of Amona through the distribution of high-quality paddy seeds. This will benefit approximately 35 farmers, reducing input costs and enhancing crop production across ~50,000 square meters of paddy fields in Amona. Aligned with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa’s call to revitalise and expand paddy cultivation in the state, this project aims to make a meaningful impact on local agrarian livelihoods.

As part of the initiative, an informative awareness session was also conducted. Shri Laxman Kharwat from Vanarai delivered insights on best practices in paddy cultivation, including the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method, seed treatment, and effective pest and weed management techniques.

Saptesh Sardesai, CEO VAB, said “At Vedanta Sesa Goa – Value Added Business, we are focused on supporting the farming community under Project Gram Nirmaan. Our assistance to the paddy farmers is a step towards driving agricultural resilience and rural prosperity, aligned with the government vision of strengthening paddy cultivation across Goa.”

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sandesh Naik, President – Bramheshwar Farmers’ Association shared, “We, the Bramheshwar Farmers’ Association, Amona, sincerely thank Vedanta Sesa Goa and Vanarai for their generous support. The paddy seeds and guidance provided will significantly reduce cultivation costs and encourage more farmers to take up paddy farming in the region.”

This initiative reaffirms VAB’s continued efforts towards #TransformingCommunities by driving holistic and sustainable prosperity through strategic community partnerships and focused rural development programs.
