Goa Government to Honour NGOs with ‘Gomantak Seva Gaurav Puraskar’ on November 2
The Government of Goa will honour Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) for their contributions towards social welfare and community development through the inaugural ‘Gomantak Seva Gaurav Puraskar’, a state-level initiative aimed at recognising organisations working for the betterment of society across the state.
The initiative has been taken following the decision of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to acknowledge the efforts of NGOs that have been actively working at the grassroots level, particularly in implementing various government schemes and initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable sections of society, empowering individuals and addressing social challenges.
Goa has a long-standing tradition of community service and voluntary participation, with several NGOs playing an important role in extending welfare services and carrying out developmental activities in collaboration with various government departments. However, the contributions of many such organisations have not received formal recognition so far.
Through the Gomantak Seva Gaurav Puraskar, the government intends to acknowledge these organisations for their dedication, commitment and sustained efforts towards social upliftment. The awards will recognise NGOs associated with various government departments that have made significant contributions through their work and involvement in welfare initiatives.
Apart from recognising outstanding service, the initiative also aims to encourage greater public participation in community service, promote innovative approaches to social development and strengthen coordination between government departments, NGOs and other stakeholders.
The awardees will be felicitated with prize money, certificates, shawls and trophies in recognition of their contributions to society.
The inaugural award ceremony will be held on November 2, 2026, at 10:30 am at the Akhil Gomantak Kshatriya Maratha Samaj Hall, 3rd Floor, Maratha Sankul, above Goa Bagayatdar, Porvorim.
Through this initiative, the government aims to recognise the role of voluntary organisations in social development and encourage continued collaboration between the government and civil society towards building a more inclusive and compassionate Goa.
