Margao – “When Goa stands united, even the Central Government bends. The people’s voice has prevailed, the land requirement for IIT stands reduced from 10 lakh sq. mtrs to 4 lakh, saving 6 lakh sq. mtrs of our precious land. A true victory of Goemkars in safeguarding our identity, heritage, and future”, stated Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik.
This landmark decision by the Union Ministry of Education marks a significant moment for Goa, reaffirming that the concerns raised by citizens were not only valid but necessary. The reduction in land requirement exposes how much additional land would have otherwise been diverted, underlining the importance of public scrutiny in large-scale projects, said Prabhav Naik.
He further stated that the development also sends out a strong message that unity among Goemkars is not symbolic, but powerful and result-oriented. When people come together with a shared purpose, even decisions at the highest levels can be corrected in the interest of the state
I wholeheartedly congratulate the people of Loliem, Rivona, Shel-Melauli, and Codar who stood resolute in their opposition to IIT Project and played a pivotal role in protecting Goa’s land. Their stand will be remembered as an inspiring example of people’s participation in safeguardin public interest, said Prabhav Naik.
As we celebrate this collective victory, let us also renew our commitment to remain vigilant and proactive. The responsibility to protect Goa’s land, environment, and heritage rests with all of us, and together, we must continue this fight for a sustainable and secure future, Prabhav Naik said.
