21st July 2025, Panaji, Goa: Fatorda MLA and former Minister of Archives and Archaeology, Vijai Sardesai, raised concerns in the Assembly over the long-pending restoration of the Chapora Fort, an initiative taken during his tenure.

He intervened during the LAQ raised by Delilah Lobo on the stalled restoration of the Chapora Fort.

Sardesai reminded the House that the restoration was first initiated during his tenure but remains incomplete. Taking a swipe at Delilah Lobo, he said, “She jumped ship in the name of development, yet couldn’t get the order issued.”

He also questioned the silence of the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, on the issue.

Sardesai stressed that Goa’s heritage deserves action, not excuses. In response, the Chief Minister assured that the restoration order would be released immediately after the Assembly session.
