St. Thomas HSS Aldona Crowned Under-19 Football Champions of Zone – I

St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, has brought laurels to the institution by emerging as the Under-19 Football Zone I Champions, in the tournament organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Panaji.

In a thrilling and closely fought final held at Quitula Ground today, St. Thomas HSS Aldona defeated St. Francis Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Siolim, by 4-2 on tie-breakers. The match ended 1–1 at the end of regular time, with both sides displaying commendable skill, determination and fighting spirit. The St. Thomas team showed tremendous composure under pressure during the tie-breaker to seal a memorable victory.

Congratulating the victorious team, Principal Angelica Fernandes expressed immense pride in the achievement and lauded the players for their discipline, commitment and team spirit.
“This victory is a proud moment for the entire St. Thomas HSS family.
Manager Fr. Roxy Fernandes said “Our students have demonstrated that success is achieved through dedication, discipline, teamwork and the courage to perform under pressure. I congratulate every member of the team for this well-deserved triumph and for bringing glory to our institution. Their achievement will certainly inspire many more students to pursue sports with passion and confidence.”

Principal Angelica Fernandes and Manager Fr. Roxy Fernandes also placed on record their appreciation for the guidance and efforts of Physical Education Teacher Shri R. J. Vijaykumar and Coach Somshekar.K whose consistent training, motivation and mentorship contributed significantly to the team’s success.

The School Management, Principal, staff and students extended their heartfelt congratulations to the entire team and expressed their best wishes for greater success in the forthcoming rounds.
