Six Arrested for Sand Mining by Mopa Police

MOPA: Mopa Airport Police Station has registered an FIR under sections 303 r/w 3 (5) of the BNS and section 3, 38 r/w 62 of the Goa Daman & Diu Minor Mineral Concession Rule 1985, in connection with sand mining and theft.

According to the complaint, on July 17, 2024, at 06:27 AM at Tarir, Ozarim Pernem, Goa, the accused individuals were caught stealing sand from the Chapora River bank without obtaining the necessary permissions from the relevant authorities.

Upon filing the complaint, Mopa Police identified and arrested the accused:

  1. Mr. Jeevut, son of Bhajirama Rajbhar, age 60, resident of Baliyabandi, Dist. Baliya, U.P.
  2. Mr. Dinesh Rajbhar, age 36, resident of Satwaz, Dist. Baliya, U.P.
  3. Mr. Arjun Kumar Rajbhar, age 24, resident of Satwaz, Dist. Baliya, U.P.
  4. Mr. Ashok Rajbhar, age 45, resident of Chohar, Dist. Baliya, U.P.
  5. Mr. Shahangur Rajbhar, age 35, resident of Jugarisar, Dist. Baliya, U.P.
  6. Mr. Fulchand Rajbhar, age 45, resident of Balwar, Dist. Baliya, U.P.

The extracted sand, approximately 2 meters worth Rs. 3,000, was found on the river bank. The canoe, valued at Rs. 2.5 lakhs, along with the six accused individuals, were also detained. The canoe owner, Sanjay Parab, has been named as an accused in the case.

Further investigation is ongoing under the supervision of SP North Akshat Kaushal IPS, SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi, and PI Mopa Narayan Chimulkar.
