The finals of Goa’s first Women’s 3-a-side basketball tournament concluded this Sunday, with Saligao Sparx emerging as champions after an undefeated streak. Saligao Sparx played Siolim Wildcats in the semifinals, securing a dominant 8-2 victory. In the second semifinal, Margao Marauders faced Miramar Queens in a closely contested match, ultimately winning 5-4 with a decisive basket just before the buzzer.
In the match for third place, Miramar Queens triumphed over Siolim Wildcats with an 8-3 score, securing their spot in the top three. The final match saw Saligao Sparx defeat Margao Marauders 6-1, with Sarah Hussain leading the team and finishing as the tournament’s highest scorer. Despite concluding with a thunderstorm, the matches and prize ceremony at Youth Hostel were a success.
This inaugural 3×3 women’s basketball tournament in Goa, organized by KJs and Sonics Basketball Club, promises to be the first of many to come.
