Restaurants, Bars, Eateries, Tea Shops, Pan Shops and other food joints, Gaddas to be Closed On Polling Day

Ahead of the upcoming polls on May 7, 2024, the District Magistrate of North Goa District has issued stringent prohibitory orders. Effective from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on polling day, all restaurants, bars, eateries, tea shops, pan shops, and other food joints within designated areas must remain closed.

Urban areas within municipal jurisdiction, located within 100 meters of polling stations, are subject to closure, while rural areas within village panchayat jurisdiction, within 200 meters of polling stations, must adhere to the order.

Furthermore, any gathering or crowd exceeding five persons within 200 meters of any polling station across North Goa District is prohibited. Exceptions are made for public servants on duty, legitimate marriage or funeral processions, and religious functions.

Those failing to comply with these orders will face penal action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of existing laws.
