Margao: In an effort to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding mental health, the Department of Psychology at CES’s Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Autonomous, in collaboration with the Psychiatric Society of Goa, is organizing PsychoSynergy—a mental health festival on Saturday, February 8, 2025.

This unique festival aims to bring together 14 diverse organizations from the mental health and allied sectors across Goa, offering a platform to showcase their impactful work and initiatives. The event will feature a range of activities, including a lecture series on Youth Mental Health conducted by dynamic psychiatrists, interactive sessions on stress management, parenting, and men’s mental health led by experienced faculty and alumni, as well as an open mic session that will provide a safe space for individuals to share personal stories and experiences.

Speaking ahead of the festival, Principal Dr. Sangeeta Sankhalkar emphasized the importance of mental health, stating, “Mental health is a crucial component of overall well-being. This festival aims to create an open platform for discussions, activities, and workshops that highlight mental health challenges, promote self-care, and provide resources for mental health support. It’s a significant step toward reducing stigma and fostering greater understanding of mental health in our daily lives.”

Dr. Tanvi Pednekar, Joint Secretary of the Psychiatric Society of Goa, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “PsychoSynergy is a groundbreaking festival that unites organizations and experts to foster mental health awareness. The lecture series on youth mental health will address the unique challenges faced by young people and stress the importance of providing the support they need. This event is also a valuable opportunity to network with key stakeholders in the mental health sector.”

The festival also acknowledges the support of the Thomas Seva Foundation, Goa, for their contribution to the event.

Aligning with this year’s World Mental Health Day theme, “Prioritizing Mental Health in the Workplace,” PsychoSynergy aims to offer valuable insights and experiences to promote mental well-being in all areas of life. The event will be held at Chowgule College from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
