In a significant step towards uplifting artisans and craftspeople, the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023, aims to enhance the quality and global integration of their products. The initiative covers 18 trades, including carpentry, blacksmithing, and pottery.

On January 4, 2024, Skill Development Projects will be launched across the state, with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Rajiv Chandrashekhar present. The event will include the felicitation of skilled craftspeople and the initiation of tailor and fishing net maker courses at multiple centers.

Approximately 29,000 artisans have already enrolled in the scheme, which offers benefits such as recognition, free training, training allowance, e-vouchers for toolkit purchase, collateral-free loans, interest subvention, digital transaction incentives, and marketing support. The program signifies a positive shift in socio-economic status for these traditional craftsmen.
