CANACONA: Tension prevailed in Canacona town on Friday after three Pakistani flags were found painted on roads at different locations within the Canacona Municipal Council limits. The incident sparked public outrage, prompting Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker and local MLA Ramesh Tawadkar to file a formal police complaint against unidentified individuals.

The complaint, submitted on behalf of Canacona citizens, urges authorities to take immediate and appropriate action under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Tawadkar condemned the act and demanded a thorough investigation to identify and punish those responsible.

Reacting sharply to the incident, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Sunil Kawthankar also called for stringent action. “Pakistani flags have no place on Indian soil. They should have been burnt, not painted on public property,” he said. Kawthankar further remarked that if the act was meant as a protest, it should have been done openly during the day, not secretly at night. “Every Indian should protest against Pakistan in a bold and public manner,” he added.

Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding areas.
