During the assembly session, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar raised critical issues regarding coal pollution and the proposed privatization of Berth Nos. 10 and 11 at Mormugao Port. Amonkar emphasized the severe dust pollution caused by the handling of cargoes like coal, bauxite, limestone, and iron ore at the port, posing significant health risks to the residents of Mormugao and Vasco city. He called for urgent measures, including the construction of dome structures by coal importers, regular water sprinkling, and covering coal wagons with hard-top covers to prevent spillage and dust pollution.

Amonkar also expressed strong opposition to the privatization of Berth Nos. 10 and 11, highlighting concerns about the lack of transparency in the bidding process, where Delta Intralogistics (Worldwide) Ltd became the sole bidder after JSW withdrew. He urged the government to reconsider the privatization decision, as it could adversely affect thousands of Goans and their livelihoods. Amonkar stressed the need for strict implementation of pollution control norms and called for government intervention to halt the privatization plans and address the concerns of the local community.
