Mapusa Police Arrests Individual from Bijapur, Karnataka for Kidnapping and Sexual Abuse of Minor Girl

Mapusa, Goa – Mapusa Police have taken one person into custody from Bijapur, Karnataka, on charges of kidnapping and sexually abusing a minor girl. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother on 10th June 2023. The accused, identified as Mr. Nagesh, also known as Sanju Lalsab Kolakar, aged 23 and residing in Mapusa, Bardez, had allegedly abducted the 14-year-old girl and concealed her in an undisclosed location.

The Mapusa Police Station promptly registered an FIR under sections 363 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act. Subsequently, the investigating team, led by PSI Bablo Parab, undertook a visit to Etagi, Karnataka, where they successfully apprehended the accused and rescued the victim girl. Both were safely brought back to the Mapusa Police Station.

The accused was officially arrested on 15th June 2023 and remanded into four days of police custody by JMFC, Mapusa. Upon medical examination of the victim at GMC, Bambolim, evidence of sexual abuse was revealed, leading to the inclusion of the POCSO Act in the charges filed against the accused.

The investigation is currently underway, being supervised by SP North Nidhin Valsan, SDPO Mapusa Dalvi, and PI Mapusa Sitakant Nayak, with LPSI Reecha Bhonsle assigned to the case.
