Margao: Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader Prabhav Naik has filed a formal complaint with the South District Collector raising serious concerns over the ongoing “Sopo” fee collection from goods vehicles in Margao. The issue has triggered widespread resentment among traders, transporters, and the local business community.

The complaint highlights how goods vehicles entering the market area are being compelled to pay fees in an arbitrary manner, placing an unfair burden on those engaged in daily trade and logistics. “This practice has reportedly been continuing unchecked, causing inconvenience and financial strain”, stated Prabhav Naik.

Copies of the complaint have been marked to the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco and the Margao Municipal Council, seeking urgent intervention at multiple levels of governance.

The representation submitted by Prabhav Naik calls for a thorough inquiry into the collection mechanism, including identification of the agencies or individuals involved, and examination of the process under which such collections are being carried out.

It further urges the authorities to ensure transparency and accountability in all matters concerning public fee collection, especially in key commercial hubs like Margao where livelihoods depend on smooth movement of goods.

Demanding swift action, the complaint by Madganvcho Awaaz stresses that such practices must be stopped immediately and responsibility fixed on those involved, in order to protect the interests of the business community and restore public trust.
