Margao – Madganvcho Awaaz and Youth Leader Prabhav Naik has written to the South Goa Collector, Egna Cleetus (IAS), seeking clarification on the recent event conducted at the Office of the Collector under the banner of Model Margao.

Raising eyebrows over the function, Naik pointed out that it was attended by the South Goa Collector herself, the Superintendent of Police (South Goa), the Margao MLA, the Navelim MLA, family members of the Margao MLA, the BJP Margao Mandal President, and others. He said such participation gives the event an official stamp it does not deserve.

In his letter, Prabhav Naik questioned under what authority a private organisation was permitted to host a programme inside a premier government institution, whether any fee was charged, and what due process was followed. He stressed that the public has a right to know the basis of such permissions.

Warning of larger implications, Prabhav Naik remarked that allowing private bodies with political links to use government premises sets a wrong precedent. He cautioned that this opens the door for similar demands from various groups, thereby compromising the neutrality of public institutions.

He also expressed concern over the active role of senior officers in the event. Naik asked whether it is appropriate for government officials to lend legitimacy to a private programme that carries political overtones and risks being viewed through a partisan lens.

In conclusion, Madganvcho Awaaz and Youth Leader Prabhav Naik urged the South Goa Collector to issue a public clarification. He reiterated that government spaces are built and maintained by taxpayers, and therefore must remain neutral symbols of governance, not platforms for privilege, nepotism, or political favouritism.
