Panjim, June 7: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman of Media and Communication Department Amarnath Panjikar has strongly condemned the latest increase in domestic LPG cylinder prices, stating that the BJP Government has once again chosen to burden ordinary families while remaining silent on the suffering of women, senior citizens, and the middle class.

“The BJP sought votes by promising relief to households and assuring three free LPG cylinders during the Assembly elections. Today, with every fresh price hike, the people of Goa have a right to ask a simple question: Will the BJP Government at least now fulfil its promise of providing three free gas cylinders to every eligible family? Or was it just another election jumla?”

Panjikar pointed out that domestic LPG prices have witnessed repeated increases, making it increasingly difficult for families to manage their monthly budgets. Rising cooking gas prices, coupled with inflation in essential commodities, fuel, education, and healthcare, have pushed common citizens to the brink.

“The BJP never misses an opportunity to celebrate itself through advertisements and publicity campaigns. But when it comes to providing relief to struggling families, the Government suddenly pleads helplessness. The reality is that every BJP promise comes with an expiry date immediately after elections.”

Taking a swipe at the BJP Mahila Morcha, Panjikar questioned their silence on an issue that directly affects women across Goa.

“Will the BJP Mahila Morcha organise protests against this LPG price hike? Will they take out morchas, submit memorandums, and demand rollback of the increase? Or are protests reserved only for Opposition-ruled states while women in Goa are expected to silently bear the burden of rising prices?”

He said that women are the worst affected by rising cooking gas costs, as they are forced to cut household expenditure, compromise on nutrition, and struggle to balance family budgets.

“The BJP’s slogan of women empowerment stands completely exposed. A government that continuously increases the cost of basic necessities while remaining indifferent to household hardships cannot claim to be pro-women.”

Panjikar demanded an immediate rollback of the LPG price hike and called upon the Goa Government to honour its electoral commitment of providing three free LPG cylinders to families.

“The people of Goa remember every promise made before elections. The BJP cannot escape accountability. If the Government has money for publicity, events, and political marketing, it certainly has the resources to provide relief to families struggling with rising prices.”

“The BJP promised free cylinders. Instead, it has delivered endless price hikes. Goa’s families deserve answers, not excuses.”
