Habitual thieves arrested hours after video of the offense goes viral

Panaji: Four habitual thieves, hailing from West Bengal, have been arrested for stealing mobile phones and cash from inter state buses.

Morsalin Molla, Raju Molla, Ariful Mondal and Bappa Molla, all residents of West Bengal and presently residing at Canca Verla are arrested under section 41 of the CrPC.

“With reference to the viral video of theft, Calangute police detained suspected and habitual offenders involved in theft of mobiles. They are arrested for stealing mobile and cash from a bus parked in Nagoa Arpora Road in Anjuna police station jurisdiction,” North SP Nidhin Valsan said.

The thieves have confessed to the crime and investigation is on to recover the mobile phone and cash, the officer said.

In a viral video, a man is caught stealing valuables from a sleeper coach while the passenger is fast asleep. The CCTV camera fitted in the bus captured the offense.
