Margao – Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has accused the BJP government of creating “monuments of corruption” such as Atal Setu, Kala Academy, National Games Infrastructure, and Smart City projects. Alemao claimed these projects were designed to deplete the state treasury and benefit BJP stakeholders.

Responding to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant’s statement about obstruction of government projects, Alemao argued that Goans have resisted destructive projects imposed to appease crony capitalists. He emphasized the need for government transparency and public inclusion in project proposals.

Alemao criticized the BJP for the poor quality of their projects, citing issues such as blown tin sheets at Nehru Stadium, the collapse of the facade at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, potholes on Atal Setu, and a collapsed slab at Kala Academy. He also highlighted the fatalities and injuries resulting from national highway work and alleged mismanagement in the electricity department despite significant expenditures.

He reminded that Congress governments respected Goan sentiments, scrapping projects like the SEZ and Regional Plan in response to public opposition. Alemao concluded by predicting a change in government in the 2027 elections, referring to it as a “New Engine Government.”
