Panaji: The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has directed the closure of M/s. Paramo Organic Kitchen & Tavern, located near the Ponda-Panaji flyover in Merces, Tiswadi, for operating without obtaining the mandatory “Consent to Operate” under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
Following an inspection conducted on July 15, 2024, board officials found that the restaurant was functioning without the necessary approval. Despite records indicating continued operations in violation of regulations, the establishment failed to secure the required consent.
At its 158th meeting on April 16, 2024, the board delegated powers to issue closure directives under Section 31(A) read with Section 21 of the Act to the Member Secretary. Consequently, the management has been ordered to close or suspend operations until the required consent is granted.
The GSPCB has warned that failure to comply will result in strict legal action under the provisions of the Act.
