Goa Police Record Multiple Crime Incidents and Unnatural Deaths Statewide

Goa Police registered several cases from 17:00 on November 3 to 17:00 on November 4, involving serious crimes, unnatural deaths, and a significant job scam. Here is an overview of the incidents reported across the state:

1.  Fatal Collision in Collem: Collem Police recorded a tragic accident on NH 748 near Bio Diversity Park, Mollem, involving an interstate bus. The bus, driven by Bhima Naik of Ramnagar, Karnataka, allegedly lost control and collided with an oncoming truck and a trailing Fortuner car. Both Naik and the truck driver succumbed to injuries, while a female passenger sustained serious injuries. The case was registered under various sections, including negligent driving, with PSI Rohan Naik leading the investigation.
2.  Assault in Raia: Maina Curtorim Police responded to an altercation in Raia where Loyall Quadros allegedly threw a stone, injuring a man named Gabriel Fernandes in a dispute reportedly involving a dog fight. Quadros has been arrested and charged under relevant sections, with further investigation underway.
3.  Family Dispute in Quepem: In two separate but related cases in Quepem, police documented violent family confrontations over religious ritual funds at Laxmi Devi Temple. In the first incident, Pario Gaonkar and his family members allegedly attacked relatives Anish and Gaurish Gaonkar with blunt objects. Shortly after, Pario filed a counter-complaint, alleging that Anish and others entered his home, physically assaulted him, and threatened his family. Investigations for both cases are ongoing.
4.  Cheating and Fraud Case in Ponda: A major case of financial fraud was registered in Ponda. Sagar Naik allegedly deceived Sadanand Virnodkar into paying Rs. 10 lakh under the promise of securing a government job, which never materialized. Naik has been arrested, and PSI Bansal Naik is handling the investigation.
5.  Suicide Abetment in Mardol: Mardol Police received a complaint from Shruti Kerkar against Pooja Naik, accusing her of collecting money under false job promises. The complainant alleges that her husband, Shridhar Kerkar, committed suicide due to harassment and mental torture inflicted by Naik’s fraudulent actions. This case remains under investigation.
6.  Bicholim Police Arrest Absconding Accused in Kolhapur: In a cross-state operation, Bicholim Police tracked and arrested Priya Yadav, a suspect in a cheating case, in Kolhapur with assistance from Maharashtra Police. The operation, led by PSI Vikesh Hadfadkar, highlights ongoing cooperation between Goa and Maharashtra authorities in cracking down on fraud.
7.  Unnatural Deaths Across Goa: Police reported five cases of unnatural deaths:
•   Anjuna: Russian national Teymur Tserbaev, 44, was found dead at his Siolim residence. He was reportedly a chronic alcoholic.
•   Margao: Two unidentified men, believed to be chronic alcoholics, were discovered dead near Apollo Hospital and Khareband, Margao. Their bodies have been preserved for post-mortem and identification.
•   Canacona: Mulchand Yadav, a driver from Mumbai, was found dead near a junction in Ponsulem. A separate incident involved Denis Detkov, a Russian guest in Galgibaga, whose body was discovered locked in his guesthouse room. The Russian consulate has been notified.

These incidents underscore an active 24-hour period for Goa Police, dealing with road safety, assault cases, fraud, and tragic losses across the state. Investigations are ongoing in all cases, with authorities working to bring clarity and justice to each incident.
