Goa Police Intensify Efforts with Major Arrests and Probes into Drug Seizures, Assaults, and Crimes Across the State

In a widespread crackdown on crime across North and South Goa, the Goa Police have made multiple arrests and initiated investigations in a range of cases, including narcotics seizures, assaults on public officials, molestation, road rage, and unnatural deaths. The coordinated operations highlight a concerted effort by the police to tackle crime and uphold law and order across the state.

Drug Seizures in Calangute and Anjuna

In one of the prominent cases, Calangute Police conducted a raid at the residence of Favasali P.T., a 41-year-old from Kerala. During the search, officers discovered 4 grams of MDMA (methylenedioxy-methamphetamine), a party drug often sold on Goa’s club scene, with an estimated street value of around Rs. 60,000. Favasali was immediately taken into custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act), which strictly regulates the handling of narcotics in India.

Meanwhile, Anjuna Police apprehended Pannelal, a 34-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh, who was found carrying a substantial 1,520 grams of ganja (marijuana) with a street value of approximately Rs. 1.52 lakh. This arrest reflects the police’s continued vigilance in coastal areas like Anjuna, which are popular among tourists and often linked to drug activity.

Assault on Public Servant in Bicholim

Bicholim Police reported an incident involving the assault of government official Fatgo Palkar. Palkar was attacked while carrying out his duties, which resulted in the police filing charges against two local residents. The accused allegedly interfered with Palkar’s official work and used force, raising serious concerns about the safety of public officials performing their roles. Police have assured that strict action will be taken to deter similar incidents in the future.

Molestation and Assault Allegations Filed in Bicholim

In another troubling incident reported by Bicholim Police, Sanjay Naik lodged a complaint after two men allegedly molested and assaulted two female family members. The incident reportedly took place near their residence, where the accused are said to have behaved inappropriately with Naik’s female relatives. A case has been filed, and police are conducting further inquiries to ensure swift justice for the victims.

Harassment of Goa Miles Driver by Taxi Operators

A concerning case of intimidation was reported by Agacaim Police, where a Goa Miles driver was allegedly wrongfully restrained by three local taxi drivers near the Grand Hyatt hotel. The local taxi drivers reportedly stopped the vehicle, possibly in an effort to intimidate the Goa Miles driver and prevent him from operating in the area. Agacaim Police have taken statements and are investigating the matter to maintain fairness in the local transport sector, which has seen ongoing friction between traditional taxi operators and app-based services.

Road Rage and Eve-Teasing in Porvorim

Porvorim Police have registered a case of road rage and harassment against Jitendra Halarnkar, who allegedly engaged in aggressive behavior toward a woman by blocking her path, verbally abusing her, and making inappropriate gestures. The incident, which unfolded in a public area, has raised concerns about road safety and the protection of women from such aggressive conduct. Authorities are looking into the case to decide further legal action.

Additional Road Incidents Reported in Porvorim and Margao

In a separate incident in Porvorim, police have charged an Ertiga taxi driver with rash driving, alleging that his reckless behavior endangered the lives of others. Additionally, cases of grievous injury resulting from road accidents were reported in Bicholim and Margao. These incidents underscore the need for responsible driving practices on Goa’s roads and stricter enforcement to prevent accidents.

Canacona Police Investigate Fraud Allegations Related to Government Job Promises

Canacona Police are investigating a complaint of cheating and fraud after two individuals allegedly promised government jobs to unsuspecting citizens in exchange for monetary payments. This case has alarmed local authorities, as it involves the manipulation of job-seeking individuals who are led to believe they will secure government positions. Police are gathering evidence and have assured the public that they will pursue those involved to prevent further exploitation.

Unnatural Deaths in Mapusa and Vasco
