Goa Police Anti-Narcotic Cell Achieves Significant Breakthrough: Exposes Hydroponic Cannabis Operation in Ponda

In a significant operation, the Anti-Narcotic Cell of the Goa Police uncovered a hydroponic cannabis plantation in Borim, Ponda, leading to the arrest of Yuvraj Borkar, aged 31 and a resident of Borim. During the raid, law enforcement confiscated 150 grams of hydroponic weed, 1 kilogram of ganja, and 15 grams of MDMA, amounting to an estimated worth of Rs 8.50 lakhs. The ANCPS Crime No. 07/2024 case has been filed against the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Investigations unveiled that Borkar sourced seeds from an international website and cultivated hydroponic cannabis in his residence’s basement in Borim, Ponda. Modified LED lights were also recovered, suggesting their use in aiding the cultivation process.

The raid was executed by LPSI Priyanka Garodi and ANCPS Panaji personnel, under the guidance of PI ANC Sajith Pillai, DySP ANC Shri Nerlon Albuquerque, and SP ANC Shri Akshat Kaushal, IPS, providing overall supervision.
