Panaji: In a scathing statement, former Goa minister Pandurang Madkaikar has accused BJP ministers of being solely focused on making money instead of governing effectively. Madkaikar, who was denied a BJP ticket in the 2022 elections due to health reasons, claims he was promised a position once he recovered. However, after BJP retained power, he says he was sidelined and ignored.

Expressing his frustration, Madkaikar stated that he recently approached BJP leadership to inquire about his position but was met with uncertainty. He has now given the party a one-week deadline to clarify their stance, after which he will make his own political decision. While he remains interested in contesting the 2027 elections with BJP, he has also hinted at the possibility of joining opposition parties like Congress or Goa Forward.

The former minister did not hold back in his criticism of the current government, alleging widespread corruption. He revealed that ministers demand bribes ranging from ₹20 lakh to ₹50 lakh to process a single file. “Nothing is moving in this government; all ministers are busy counting money,” he remarked.

Madkaikar’s remarks have stirred controversy, adding to growing public frustration over alleged corruption in Goa’s administration. He warned that the people of Goa are eager to oust the BJP due to these issues.
