ESG Invites Entries for Statewide Aakash Kandil Competition at IFFI 2024

Panaji: The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), in partnership with the Government of Goa, has announced the Aakash Kandil (lantern-making) competition as part of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024. The event aims to highlight Goa’s rich cultural heritage while fostering creativity and community engagement through a vibrant exhibition of traditional and innovative lantern designs.

Participation Details:

Open to all residents of Goa, the competition will accept a maximum of 600 entries, with each Taluka limited to 50 participants on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Participants will receive ₹500 as a token of appreciation for their creativity and effort.

Submission Guidelines:

Participants must submit their completed Aakash Kandils by 10:00 AM on 22nd November at the ESG Promenade. ESG will provide the necessary holders, bulbs, and electricity connections for display.

Only environmentally friendly materials are allowed, with thermocol strictly prohibited.

Judging and Prizes:

Three winners from each Taluka will be awarded prestigious prizes, with the judges’ decision being final and binding.
