Panaji: The Cumbharjua Block Congress President, Vishal Volvoiker, has expressed shock and serious concern over alleged attempts to mislead Congress workers in the Corlim Zilla Constituency by projecting an individual as the purported “official” party candidate for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections scheduled for December 20.

Volvoiker stated that Congress workers were taken aback by efforts made by Glenn Cabral and his supporters to portray themselves as representing the party’s official candidature, despite the fact that no such endorsement has been issued by the Block.

He pointed out that the Block Congress Committee had recommended the name of Mr. Reynaldo Rosario, the North Goa District Youth Congress President, for consideration as the party’s candidate for the ZP elections. Reynaldo has been actively working at the constituency level for the past year and has earned the confidence of local party workers, Volvoiker said.

Volvoiker added that, as part of the ongoing alliance discussions, the party’s ally — the Goa Forward Party — has launched a vigorous campaign in support of Mr. Vikram Parab, and Congress workers are currently awaiting a final decision from the leadership on the alliance arrangement.

“In this context,” he said, “workers were understandably shocked to see sudden public gestures, including seeking blessings at various temples, by an entirely new and unapproved name being floated for the constituency. This has caused confusion and disappointment among the cadre.”

Volvoiker reiterated that discipline and clarity are essential within the party, and that the Block expects the leadership to take note of the situation and restore confidence among workers
