Panaji: The North Goa Police and Women Police Station in Panaji are looking out for unidentified men, who are charged with raping a psychologically unstable woman in the tourist hub of Baga. The woman was taken to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) following complaints from the residents, which is when she confided to the doctors that six men raped her in Baga.

“The Panaji police received a call that a woman was behaving psychologically improperly. Our team including women cops picked her up from the identified spot and admitted her to the IPHB. During her examination, she disclosed her ordeal. We have sent the case to the Women PS being a specialized unit,” North Goa SP Nidhin Valsan told reporters on the sidelines of a State function held in Panaji today.

The survivor is a native of West Bengal, prompting the police to also investigate the human trafficking angle. Valsan said they are seeking the assistance of the Social Welfare Department and the NGO to crack the case. “We are doing everything possible to identify the suspects and bring them to book. The victim will also be given all assistance required from the police and the NGO,” he added.

In another incident concerning the transgender, around five persons from the community had accused one Bobby of forcing them into the sex trade. Migrated from their home cities in Delhi and West Bengal, the transgender persons with the help of a local NGO lodged a police complaint yesterday. The Porvorim police arrested the suspected kingpin today. Valsan said they will take all the necessary action.
