The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has begun preparations for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections, prioritising candidate selection and direct voter engagement.
District-level meetings were held at the North and South Goa Congress offices, chaired by GPCC President Amit Patkar along with respective District Presidents. The meetings witnessed active participation from block presidents, senior leaders, and grassroots workers. Discussions centred on identifying strong and credible candidates while charting strategies to strengthen connect with voters across villages.
Patkar said the Congress is fully prepared to contest the elections with confidence, ensuring that every ZP member represents people’s aspirations and works towards grassroots development, transparency, and accountability.
Criticising the BJP government for being disconnected from the ground and focused on “power politics,” Patkar stressed that Congress stands with Goans to safeguard the state’s identity, heritage, and resources. He added that ZP institutions must serve as platforms for people’s progress, not political misuse.
The GPCC President noted that the large turnout and enthusiasm at the meetings highlight growing trust in Congress. “The ZP elections will be a decisive step towards restoring people’s voice, empowering village communities, and shaping Goa’s future in the hands of its people,” he said.
