Colvale Police Rescue Kidnapped Girl, Arrest Wanted Accused

Panaji – July 18, 2023: In a successful operation, the Colvale Police have apprehended an accused individual who was wanted for kidnapping a minor girl. The accused, identified as Yuvraj alias Sonya Kotkar, a 23-year-old resident of Ahmadnagar, Maharashtra, was suspected to be residing in the Colvale area of Goa.

The reliable information regarding the whereabouts of the accused and the kidnapped girl, a 16-year-old resident of Ahmadnagar, was received by the Tofkhana Police Station in Maharashtra. Acting swiftly, the Colvale Police, under the supervision of Shri. Nidhin Valson, SP(N) Porvorim, Shri. Jivba Dalvi, SDPO Mapusa, and Shri. Vijay Rane, PI Colvale PS, formed a team led by PSI Kunal Naik. The team, including Constable Sandeep Malik and other dedicated personnel, combed the Colvale area meticulously.

Their determined efforts paid off as the team successfully located and apprehended Yuvraj Kotkar in Chicalim. In a commendable display of efficiency, the kidnapped girl was rescued safely from his custody. The Colvale Police acted swiftly to ensure the safety of the victim and bring the accused to justice.

Following the arrest, the accused Yuvraj Kotkar and the rescued girl were handed over to PSI Balasab Shinde and the staff of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit in Ahmadnagar for further investigation and legal proceedings.

This incident highlights the dedication and professionalism of the Colvale Police in swiftly responding to information, ensuring the safety of the kidnapped minor, and successfully apprehending the wanted accused.
