Colvale Police Initiates Legal Action Against Two Brothers After Their Rottweiler Bites Minor; Owners Booked for Negligence

Colvale police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against two brothers in connection with a Rottweiler dog attack on a minor child, citing negligence in handling the aggressive canine.

According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, the complaint was lodged by Mr. Pandurang G Khorjuvekar, a resident of Katurlim Wado, Camurlim Bardez, Goa. The accused individuals are identified as (1) Mr. Siddharth, also known as Roshan Shripad Khorjuvekar, aged 29, and the owner of the Rottweiler dog, residing in Katurlim Waddo, Camurlim Bardez, and (2) Aniket Shripad Khorjuvekar, aged 26, residing in Katurlim Waddo, Camurlim Bardez, who is the caretaker of the dog.

The complaint alleges that the brothers left the Rottweiler unattended and unrestrained, allowing it to approach the complainant’s residence and subsequently bite his minor daughter, who was returning home. The incident occurred on 17/12/2023, around 11:45 am at Katurlim Waddo, Camurlim Bardez, Goa.

Following the incident, the dangerous Rottweiler underwent a medical examination at the Directorate of Veterinary Services, Karaswada. Necessary formalities are underway to transfer custody of the dog to the Directorate of Veterinary Services. The accused have been served notice under Section 41-A of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.), and further investigation is ongoing. The case is being handled by HC-4825 Narendra Naik under the supervision of SDPO Mapusa Shri. Jivba Dalvi and PI Colvale P.S. Shri. Vijay Rane.
