Cash-for-Jobs Scam: 34 Arrested Across Goa, ₹5 Crore Seized; No Political Links Yet, Say Police

Panaji: The investigation into Goa’s cash-for-jobs scam is progressing transparently and without interference, according to DGP Alok Kumar. The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) is closely monitoring the cases, and no decision has been made regarding the appointment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

In South Goa, police have arrested 21 individuals, including two government employees, for allegedly duping over 50 people since 2015. The crackdown has resulted in the seizure of ₹5 crore in assets, including vehicles, frozen bank accounts, and 12 incriminating items.

Meanwhile, in North Goa, 17 cases have been registered, leading to 13 arrests. Some of the accused face multiple charges, and 116 grams of gold were recovered in one of the cases, according to SP North Akshat Kaushal.

South SP Sunita Sawant stated that no political connections have been identified so far in the scam, which came to light following multiple complaints filed at various police stations.
