Calangute Police Recover 300 Grams of Stolen Gold Worth ₹25 Lakh; Accused Arrested in West Bengal

On April 27th, 2024, Mrs. Nancy Dias, aged 62, residing at H. No. 1681, Saipem, Candolim, Bardez-Goa, lodged a complaint against her servant, Eyakub Mondal from West Bengal. Mondal allegedly committed theft of four gold plates from her flat and fled.

Calangute Police Station registered Crime No. 58/2024 under Section 381. During the investigation, information revealed the accused was in West Bengal. A team from Calangute Police, including PSI Akshay Parsekar, PC Gaurish Karbotkar, and PC Harchandra Betkekar, traced Mondal to Panitara Village, under Kumarganj Police Station in Dakshin Dinajpur District, West Bengal. They recovered three gold biscuits weighing 300 grams, worth approximately Rs. 25,00,000.

The operation was supervised by Police Inspector Paresh Naik of Calangute Police Station, with overall supervision by SDPO Porvorim, Vishwesh Karpe, and SP North, Akshat Kaushal, IPS. Further investigation is ongoing.
