Panaji: In a proactive move to ensure the safety and comfort of tourists visiting Goa’s most popular beach destination, the Calangute Police have launched a special drive against touts and illegal agents operating in the area.

As part of this operation, two accused persons were booked under Section 34 of the Indian Police Act, and a total of thirteen touts and illegal agents were apprehended. This initiative forms part of the police’s broader effort to safeguard visitors and maintain public order in Calangute — especially in the lead-up to the busy New Year season.

Calangute Police emphasized that their goal is to create a hassle-free and enjoyable environment for tourists, free from the nuisance of touting and other illegal activities. Authorities have also intensified surveillance and preventive measures to ensure that celebrations proceed smoothly without any untoward incidents.

Tourists have been urged to immediately report any cases of touting or illegal activity to the nearest police personnel or station. The Calangute Police reiterated their commitment to protecting tourists and preserving Calangute’s reputation as one of Goa’s safest and most vibrant holiday destinations.
