Panaji: LoP Yuri Alemao on Wednesday said that the BJP Government is afraid to face the Opposition and has therefore curtailed the Assembly session to three days. He added that Opposition MLAs will decide on a strategy to grill the ruling benches.

“The BJP Government has once again undermined the democratic process by summoning the Assembly session for only three days. The previous session was curtailed by seven days, and now, despite our demand for a longer session, this corrupt government has further shrunk it,” Alemao said, calling it a murder of democracy.

“By doing so, the BJP is suppressing the voice of the Opposition and, more importantly, the voice of the people of Goa, whose pressing issues were meant to be addressed in this session,” he said.

Alemao noted that a three-day session will deprive Opposition MLAs of the opportunity to ask questions related to all departments.

“In every department this government has indulged in loot. The Assembly session is the platform where we can question the government, but they are afraid of us,” he said.
