n a landmark move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared Pallavi Dempo, Executive Director of Dempo Industries, as its candidate for the South Goa parliamentary election. Dempo’s candidacy marks the first time a woman will contest for the BJP in Goa, signaling a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.

Pallavi Dempo, a well-known Goan entrepreneur and educationist, brings a wealth of experience in both business and philanthropy to the electoral race. Her nomination has prompted other potential candidates for South Goa to withdraw their claims, with Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant expressing confidence in the BJP’s victory, predicting a margin of 60,000 votes.

Accepting the nomination with humility, Pallavi Dempo expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Goa BJP President Sadanand Tanavade, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, and all party members for the opportunity.

Pallavi Dempo holds a graduate degree in chemistry from Parvatibai Chowgule College in Margao, Goa, and a postgraduate degree in business management from MIT, Pune. As the Executive Director of Dempo Industries, she oversees the business’s Media and Real Estate arm. Additionally, she serves as a Trustee of Dempo Charities Trust, which runs four institutes of pre-university learning in Goa, focusing on aiding the socially and educationally underprivileged.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Pallavi Dempo is deeply involved in philanthropic and cultural activities. She serves as President of the Indo-German Educational & Cultural Society and is a Trustee of the Moda Goa Foundation, a fashion and textile museum in Goa. Her contributions extend to academia, where she has served on the Academic Council affiliated with Goa University.

Furthermore, Pallavi Dempo is an active member of various organizations, including The Goa Cancer Society and the All India Management Association’s Women’s Council- AIMA Aspire. Her dedication to promoting gender diversity and inclusion in management and leadership positions is evident through her active participation in shaping the direction and activities of these organizations.
