Kala Rakhonn Mandd will observe the one-year anniversary of the Open Air Auditorium slab collapse at Kala Academy with a unique artistic tribute titled “The Cry.” The half-hour programme will take place at the gate of Kala Academy on Wednesday, 17 July, starting at 6 pm.

Originally planned for the Open Air Auditorium stage, the performances were relocated due to restrictions imposed by Kala Academy authorities. Despite a formal request made on Monday to the Member Secretary of Kala Academy, the stage remains off-limits to the public for safety reasons.

Undeterred, Kala Rakhonn Mandd decided to proceed with their tribute at the gate. The performances will express the suffocation felt by Goa’s artists, reflecting on the damage to government-run cultural institutions caused by rampant corruption and the authorities’ indifferent attitude towards art and culture.

The programme is open to the public, and Kala Rakhonn Mandd has appealed to all art lovers in Goa to join the artists in this heartfelt tribute.
