Panaji, November 10, 2025:
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, accusing the BJP-led government of presiding over Goa’s worst-ever law and order collapse. Palekar released a poster titled “The Failed CM” and challenged the Chief Minister to a public debate, alleging that the state government is shielding criminals instead of acting against them.
“If the CM has even an ounce of accountability, I challenge him for a public debate with me,” said Palekar. “Goa has never witnessed such a sharp rise in crime — murders, shootings, gang clashes, robberies, and even custodial assaults — all within the last few weeks. There’s no fear of law because the criminals know they’re protected by those in power.”
Taking a dig at the ruling party, Palekar said, “They boast of a double-engine government, but what they’ve actually doubled are criminals. This is a cocktail government — they’ve collected criminals from all over and poured them into the BJP.”
Highlighting recent incidents, Palekar cited the attack on an AAP volunteer in Benaulim for stopping illegal sand dune destruction, the murder of Umakant Khot in Morjim for opposing illegal hill cutting, the assault on activist Rama Kankonkar in Panaji, and the custodial beating of Edberg Pereira in Navelim.
AAP General Secretary (Organisation) Shrikrishna Parab added that police action in Goa comes only after public outrage. “Goa Police has lost its credibility. The protectors have become destroyers, while the CM continues with events as people live in fear,” he said.
The AAP leaders demanded the Chief Minister’s resignation, alleging that the BJP government has completely failed to maintain public safety and justice in the state.
