Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inspected the infrastructure works under the Panaji Smart City Mission on Saturday, announcing that ninety percent of the project had been completed by May 31.
“We have come here to inspect the Panaji Smart City, Panaji Municipal Corporation, and PWD. We gave a deadline of May 31 for the Panaji Smart City project, and around 90 percent of the work has been completed,” stated the Chief Minister. He further explained, “We have developed the utility and gutter systems separately to improve the situation during floods. We have utilized all resources from the central government to develop Panjim as a smart city.”
On Friday, Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate also conducted a site inspection of the ongoing smart city works in Panjim. He confirmed that 90 percent of the major work is completed and the remainder will be finished during the monsoons.
The Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) has been established to oversee the development of smart urban infrastructure and projects for Panaji City. The Smart City initiative is tailored to the specific needs of each city, focusing on sustainable and inclusive development. It aims to enhance the quality of life for citizens by providing smart infrastructure, improving urban transport networks, upgrading water supply and waste disposal facilities, and developing more efficient ways to light and heat buildings.
