850 farmers benefit from organic farming awareness session and fertiliser distribution drive in Porvorim

Porvorim, June 12, 2026 : An Organic Farming Awareness Session aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices, organic farming and farmer empowerment was organised by BJP Porvorim Kissan Morcha in association with the Porvorim BJP Mandal at Shree Vetal Temple, Carrem Vaddem, Socorro. The programme brought together around 850 farmers from the Porvorim constituency for an interactive session on natural farming and sustainable cultivation methods.

The event also featured a fertiliser distribution drive, through which participating farmers were provided with essential agricultural inputs to support their farming activities.

The programme was graced by Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon’ble MLA of Porvorim and Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Printing & Stationery; Shri Damu Naik, BJP Goa President; Shri Vinit Parab, President, Porvorim BJP Mandal; Shri Vishwas Chodankar, State President, Kisan Morcha; Shri Amit Asnodkar, ZP Member, Socorro; Smt. Sonia Pednekar, Sarpanch, Socorro; along with other dignitaries and members of the farming community.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte Hon’ble MLA of Porvorim and Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Printing & Stationery, said, “Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, over the last 12 years, has worked tirelessly towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat by strengthening the pillars of Yuva Shakti, Kisan Shakti, Gareeb Kalyan and Nari Shakti. To further advance Kisan Shakti, it is important for the younger generation to step forward and actively contribute to the agricultural sector. We must collectively think about innovative ways to strengthen farming and ensure its growth for the future.”

The initiative combined direct support through the distribution of agricultural inputs with knowledge-sharing on sustainable farming practices, furthering efforts to build a resilient and progressive agricultural sector in Goa.
