Two Ugandan Nationals Arrested for Illegal Stay in Goa

The Crime Branch of Goa Police has arrested two Ugandan nationals for violating the Foreigners Act. The arrests were made during a drive to identify foreigners staying illegally in the state. A team led by PI Nitin Halarnkar, Crime Branch Ribandar, conducted a search operation at 1:30 am on 16th October 2024 in Khalchawado, Arambol, Pernem.

The two arrested individuals are identified as:

  1. Catherine Nakawuka, 38, a Ugandan national currently residing in Khalchawada, Arambol.
  2. Suzan Naluyima Natukunda, 26, also from Uganda, presently residing at Laxmi House, Khalchawada, Arambol.

It was found that both individuals were staying in Goa without valid passports, visas, or travel documents, in violation of Section 7 (1) (3) of the Foreigners Order 1948, Section 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946, and other related provisions of the law.

A case has been registered under Crime Branch P.S Crime No. 115/2024, and the investigation is ongoing. The accused have been remanded to judicial custody for 10 days by the Hon’ble JMFC Pernem. The Ugandan consulate has been informed through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) Panaji.

The investigation is being conducted by PI Nitin Halarnkar under the supervision of Dy.SP Suraj Halarnkar and SP Crime Rahul Gupta.
