Traffic Advisory: Panaji Gears Up for Carnival Float Parade 2024

Panaji, February 9, 2024 – The much-anticipated Carnival Float Parade is set to enchant the streets of Panaji on February 10, 2024. To ensure the smooth flow of vehicular traffic during the event, the Panaji Traffic Police have laid out elaborate traffic arrangements.

Diversion and Flow of Traffic:

  1. Float Movement:
  • Carnival floats will assemble on Ribandar Causeway.
  • Starting from Divja Circle, floats will proceed to the Old Secretariat via D.B.B. Marg.
  • Culmination near Kala Academy, Campal, with parking at the Football Ground on D.B.B. Marg.
  • Diversion: Floats approaching from KTC Circle will be redirected towards Merces Circle via Bypass road to reach Ribandar Causeway.
  1. Incoming Traffic to Panaji City:
  • Traffic from various directions will follow regular routes until Dayanand Bandodkar statue.
  • Float parade commencement will halt City Buses in either direction on DBB Marg.
  1. Outgoing Traffic from Panaji City:
  • Traffic from Miramar side will turn right at Campal Ganesh/Kala Academy and proceed via designated junctions.
  • Vehicles from Rua-de-Ourem will be diverted towards Kaju Darbar.
  • Entry Ban: Heavy and commercial vehicles, including tourist buses from Dona Paula, restricted from entering the city between 07:00 and 21:00 hrs.
  1. Parking Zones:
  • Vehicles from North Goa for carnival floats: EDC Plaza, MLCP, and near KTC bus stand.
  • Vehicles from South Goa for carnival floats: Directed via GMC-Goa University-NIO Circle-Miramar to park at Campal Parade Ground.
  1. No Parking Zones:
  • Jose Falcao Road
  • Joao Castro Road
  • Match Corner to Casa International (M.G. Road).
  • Caculo Island to St. Inez junction.
  • Church Square to Cortin Foot Bridge.

Important Note:
These traffic arrangements will be in effect until the completion of the floats parade. The public and motorists are urged to plan their journeys in advance, cooperate with the Traffic Police, and contribute to making the event a resounding success.
