14 August 2024: In a scathing statement, Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai has condemned the BJP-led Government of Goa for its alleged corruption and incompetence. Sardesai criticized the government’s decision to deploy Goa Police to Haryana to apprehend influencers who have been vocal about the state’s deteriorating governance. He expressed astonishment at the government’s priorities, accusing it of silencing dissent rather than addressing the issues plaguing Goa.

Sardesai highlighted ongoing conflicts within the government, pointing out that ministers are openly clashing over poorly conceived legislations, while massive scandals like the ₹50,000 crore Zuari land scam go unaddressed. He argued that the state’s entire debt of ₹30,000 crore could be wiped out if the government took action against such corruption. However, he alleged that the government, instead of protecting the interests of Goans, is facilitating the sale of the state’s assets to outsiders.

I’m astonished reading press reports of BJP Goa GovtofGoa sending Goa Police to #Haryana to catch some influencers who’s been drawing the attention of the whole nation to the corrupt and incompetent circus that’s been the governance in #Goa. Ministers are at each other’s throats openly for mindless legislations, while gigantic scams like the 50,000 crore Zuari land are allowed to happen. If you’re sincere to Goa, you could wipe out our state’s entire debt of 30,000 crores by bringing Zuari to book, and silence the critics. But you’ll not do it because you’re the patrons who have put up our beautiful state for sale slice by slice to outsiders at the expense of #Goemkars. Rounding up a few influencers will not change the reality, and the reality is Goa is being ravaged.”

In his statement, Sardesai emphasized that arresting a few influencers will not change the grim reality that Goa is being ravaged under the current administration.
